The GreenHouse
a vocational day service for adults with learning disabilities with a variety of learning and creative opportunities. Each day has a varied programme with three themes running through: work skills, independent living and personal development. With a choice of activities team members have the opportunity to develop skills within their own areas of interest as well as trying new things.
Activities include running an allotment, gardening, cooking and baking, catering and hospitality, housekeeping, woodwork and craftwork.
We look at these activities holistically – planting, tending and harvesting crops on the allotment; considering healthy food options, meal planning, shopping and budgeting, cooking and serving, clearing away and washing up – so that our team members learn about process.
Some of the products of woodwork, art and crafts are sold through our craft stall, along with jams, pickles and surplus vegetables from the allotment.
The team get out into the community, visiting the local library and shops, learning about road safety on the way.
We play an active role in recycling locally with our team of aluminium foil balers, who process all the recycled foil in the Borough of Eastleigh. We support the country park through regular litter picking sessions.
